Here we have the HUGE Tawa from @annajeebhq Leicester. We ordered the Tawa option for ‘6 people’, but were totally stuffed & had leftovers to take home too & there were 7 of us! You have the full range of Kebabs, Chops, Chicken Tikka, Tandoori Wings, Tandoori Chicken, Peshwari Chicken, Tawa Lamb, Chips, Naan & Rice ? We had to order a jugs of their refreshing Lime & Mint and Strawberry Mocktails of course, to help knock it all down ? We were really pleased to have prayed our Asr in the dedicated prayer room; the waiter told us they also hold Jumu’ah at the Restaurant too, Masha’Allah! Another FIERY dish is this Chilli Chicken Tikka Masala from @shimlasbradford ?️ This is incredibly hot, not for the faint hearted, but do you know what? Its absolutely delicious and flavoursome, the chicken tikka is first grilled perfectly and combined with the hot masala base giving endless amount of flavour. This is made fresh to order thus can take upto 30/40 mins & consists of Chicken Breast cooked with fresh ginger, garlic, tomatoes, herbs & Dhesi Spices. My favourite thing to order from their menu are the grilled starters. Defo a must try when you go! We can’t get ENOUGH of the amazing creations from @thegreatchaserestaurant This is definitely one of them! The Free Range Chicken Breast, served with Asparagus, Baby Carrots & Maple Gravy ? The menu at @thegreatchaserestaurant is aimed to challenge you in trying new things & expand your palate. I’m always mesmerized by how amazing the food & every aspect around it is. The chicken breast was beautifully tender as it had first been sous vide in a water bath then pan fried to give the skin that crispiness edge, coupled with the amazing maple gravy along with veggies giving an added crunch. I would never have thought that maple syrup would pair so well with gravy & was hesitant ordering this but was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. This dish was executed really well ? & we can’t wait to try the new Autumn menu they have launched! Alhamdulillah at The Great Chase, you will find that they have a immense focus in Halal Tayyib Food – being in line to the sunnah of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم which we think is amazing. All the meat & chicken is non stunned with hand zabiha. The owner was chatting to us about the low demand from consumers makes it hard to source Halal non stunned Free Range Chicken, here at Halal Food Gastronomy our aim is to raise awareness about these issues and make it easier for restaurants like The Great Chase who have a great concern on providing Tayyab food in line with the correct slaughtering methods. Secondly @thegreatchaserestaurant, we have the succulent roast chicken breast. What a pleasure to actually taste the chicken without it being drenched in too much marinade or sauce. A perfect roast! The co-owner of the restaurant, who joined us in a very interesting discussion, told us about the struggle of getting non-stunned free-range chicken because the supply is so low. It would be unfortunate if The Great Chase had to resort to using stunned free-range chicken as a result, since Muslims who want to avoid stunning will no longer be able to dine there. Unfortunately, it’s a catch 22, as the supply of non-stunned free-range chicken is low because the Muslim consumer demand is low! Hence, at Halal Food Gastronomy we want to help grow the demand through raising awareness. We had a lovely traditional Sunday roast @thegreatchaserestaurant. They serve a fully free-range menu, from only naturally fed animals. Starting with the 42 day dry-aged Sirloin roast beef, done medium well. A great texture & a meaty flavour that wasn’t too overpowering. That hearty smell of roast beef…yum! ? Both beef & chicken roast dishes on the menu come with beef dripping potatoes, winter greens, neeps, cauliflower, Yorkshire pudding & gravy as well as sweet potato mash which was definitely a hit! At Halal Food Gastronomy we intend to promote ethical dining by showing restaurants like The Great Chase, who are unfortunately a rare exception. We’ll continue to show mainstream restaurants too & always request transparency regarding slaughter methods, due to the growing concern about machine slaughter & controversial stunning methods which is usually ignored by most halal food accounts. All of their drinks are ethically sourced from only fair trade or direct trade sources. All of the concoctions made at the bar have amazing depth of flavour which make them really enjoyable. To the left is the Palamino which is a Mexican favourite, with a sweet taste and a bitter twist of lime. The red drink is the My Cherry Amour & it’s a pungent cherry & fig cordial with Bees Knees Rosé giving it a nice fruity fizz?? When visiting @thegreatchaserestaurant London of course, we had to go for the dessert! The Cox apple, plum & oat crumble with cornflake ice cream. It was a sweet delight! Whilst the chocolate with blood orange & hazelnut was a perfect blend to a fine dining experience. The Restaurant boasts a trendy dry bar (non alcoholic bar), with cordials & concoctions made of drinks from only fair trade or direct trade sources. We had Palamino which has a sweet taste with a bitter twist of the lime that gives it a good kick. The red drink is the My Cherry Amour & it’s a pungent cordial with a nice fruity fizz! We were also given an intriguing presentation of the different collection of ethically sourced rare teas. One of my absolute FAV Moroccan dishes and I must admit, @theclovecafeandbistro (based in Blackburn) nailed it ? on the head. Tasted exactly how my Moroccan Aunt makes it and it took me back to my childhood. The flavour the Tagine pot gives the chicken is Tremendous – effortlessly falls off the bone and the fresh herbs gives an aromatic taste leaving you wanting more! It might not be to everyone’s liking as Moroccan dishes don’t have masala in them, but I sure LOVED it. Make sure you order in advance due to the length of time it takes to cook. The @theclovecafeandbistro Desi Breakfast is SO good that it makes the family fighting for the last piece! As you can see they serve quite a few mouthwatering options: Desi Omelette with soft and fluffy Puri’s, Chicken curry which is just AH-MAZING, Chana Chaat, Tortilla strips and crispy Pakoras. All to dip with their sweet Mango pulp & green Chutney. My favourite was the chicken curry which stole the limelight, the level of spices within the masala was rich and an aromatic potency that simply pushed our senses to the edge! Here we have one of my favourites from @saffronkitchen the Butter Chicken ?. Ever since I had the authentic tomato based butter chicken in Delhi, India; I’ve travelled the country trying to find something that tastes similar. I must say the butter chicken from saffron kitchen is the closest dish that brings back those memories from my time in India. Buttery, slightly sweet tomato based gravy with subtle spice undertones and tender marinated chicken pieces, this dish will surely satisfy your tasfe buds! On the top left we have the chicken jalfrezi which had a nice kick to it and the peppers added the authentic jalfrezi flavour to the dish. Both dish’s were accompanied with butter naan and pilau rice, however if you go for the butter chicken then you definitely need to try it with the butter naan. Don’t judge me guys, just trust me on this one ? this is….wait for it… a BLOOMING BIRYANI ARANCINI from @thefig_theolive based in Blackburn. Yep you heard it right here folks. It’s a medium sized ball stuffed with chicken biryani, coated in breadcrumbs and then deep fried to a golden perfection. Garnished with a yoghurt sauce and a sprinkle of Chevra on top. On a bed of onion Raita. Yummy! This is something I was apprehensive in trying because it sounds so bizarre to me but I took the risk & it sure payed off! This is quite inventive which has been brought to Indian cuisine. Very cleverly thought, I can confirm it was absolutely delish. The biryani was so tasty that when we took our first bite, a rush of flavour overpowered our tastebuds with the spices. It was nice and spicy. They also do a Daal Chawal Arancini and I can’t wait to try it. Will definitely come back again! The Fig and Olive are @hmc_uk Certified so no worries about whether it is stunned or not! I couldn’t resist in doing another post on the food from @Roomaliblackburn guys! ? If you are in a group I highly recommend you to book the “Dastarkhan” table where groups of 5-8 can sit on traditional floor cushions with a slightly elevated table and enjoy their meal. Its always fully booked on weekends. It has a Moroccan theme to it which is great for occasions. With curtains to accommodate for those who require pardah. We had two Masala Chips, Keema Karahi (on the right) which is my favourite dish they do, it goes so well with the paratha. Chicken tikka masala (orange/red), Butter chicken (middle), Lamb Karahi (left) and a Roomali Red mocktail (bottom). The Roomali red is one of the few Syrup based Mocktails I enjoy as the blend is just right. Now we have one of my favourite places for Indian food, especially dishes. Highly recommended the Keema Karahi from @roomaliblackburn it goes really well with their Paratha which has a great flakey texture. The staff are friendly & the management are extremely accommodating of my fussy requests. It’s a family run business & they take food seriously. They also have a small prayer room upstairs which is great when you are travelling. They do have areas that accommodate for pardah and are @hmc_uk certified. For those who are going as a group, I highly recommended you try to book the Dastarkhan area which is a booth with cushions allowing you to sit on the ground with a slightly elevated table. The “Me Time!” golden pancake from @hautedolci freshly made light & fluffy pancakes with sun ripened strawberries, served with warm melted chocolate, along with strawberries & cream gelato nestled on the top. These definitely lived up to my standards as I am fussy with pancakes. We even got my little sisters approval who is a buttermilk pancake ?! Here we have the Murgh Makhani – Chicken Tikka Masala from Mumtaz Bradford. Pieces of grilled marinated chicken breast cooked with fresh tomotoes, onions, garlic, ginger, pistachios, almonds. Served in a metal dish heated by a flame? at your table. This is one of the better dishes available at Mumtaz unfortunately the rest of the dishes aren’t what they used to be & the standards have dipped over the years. The yummy chocolate brownies @heavenlydesserts are a must! They were a perfect consistency and by far some of the best brownies I’ve had! Loved how the brownies were stacked in threes, then drizzled with melted white chocolate and Belgian chocolate, as well as chocolate shards to make them even better. The first swipe is the slow cooked pulled rib steak burger slow cooked for ten hours, topped with burger mayo, melted cheese and gherkin. Next is the classic burger, with a succulent beef patty, burger mayo, and topped with cheese and gherkin. Lastly, we have the blazing crumbed chicken burger, smothered with chilli sauce, mayo, cheese and gherkin. You could tell that all the patties were fresh and cooked to perfection. Having holiday blues from Turkey? Head down to @aziziye_restaurant for a traditional Turkish experience in dining and yummy kebabs! This one’s the delicious Adana Kebab served with fluffy rice and salad. Really love how they have the booths that give that added privacy. Alhamdulilah the restaurant is situated underneath the Aziziye Camii (Masjid). The building looks amazing as the decor and design of the restaurant makes you feel like your in Turkey again ? If you’re craving Authentic Turkish food look no further than @aziziye_restaurant Stoke Newington london We had the Lamb Chops, Iskender Kebab & some Hummus which was delicious ? followed by 3 skewers of Cag Kebab which is cooked in the classic way over hot coals on a rotisserie. Make sure you eat it whilst it’s warm. Aziziye are quite unique as they have a Masjid (with women’s facilities) along with a butcher & restaurant in the same building. Here we have an exclusive sneak peek to what may be coming onto the new menu at Godfather Pizzeria Batley ? don’t worry all your Favorites from the current menu will still be there but will be complimented by some exciting new dishes! One of the new chefs who is extremely passionate about creating exquisite dishes prepared the Lamb Special for us which was actually Amazing! Every mouthful was packed full of flavour, the lamb was succulent & soft, complimented perfectly by zeera pilau rice, yoghurt sauce & a fresh salad. ? With new members of the management team, the level of service given to customers has improved vastly which was definitely an area that Godfathers were lacking in. There were plenty of staff working on a busy Saturday night (unlike the past) which made sure everything ran smoothly. Hopefully, they manage to maintain this delightful level of service and don’t let things slump to previous levels. Keep your eyes peeled as they are going to be extending to allow space to accommodate for another 40 people to be hosted & giving the menu a much needed revamp as it’s been the same for many years. I’m in ? with the Fried Icecream! ? from @godfatherpizzeria Batley This has become a favourite of mine but initially I was apprehensive to try it because its actually fried however it tasted amazing! It was like a Churro on the outside, that had hints of cinnamon & sugar with icecream in the middle.
