Committed to finding the best Fully Halal Restaurants in the UK. Non-stunned with hand zabiha only, plus vegetarian / vegan options & desserts! No Cross-Contamination & No Alcohol served
Tipu Sultan is a beautiful ground floor HMC certified restaurant serving a variety of authentic Indian dishes. Tipu Sultan aim to ensure the experience is worthy of an emperor at your table which they certainly delivered!
The Place
Right from the exterior Tipu Sultan looks the part. With a lovely waterfall decorating the place.
The place looks beautiful at night with illuminating signs.
The place is HMC certified and their certificate is on display, so you do not need to worry Alhamdullilah!
Tipu Sultan has a luxury feel throughout the place. The reception area has chandeliers and lovely plants and floor to ceiling curtains.
The waiting area is also really pretty with purple velvet seats making your wait comfy. On busier days e.g. Fridays and Saturdays I’d advise booking a table to avoid a long wait because everyone prefers not to wait.
Tipu Sultan has lots of seating available to cater for how popular they are. The seating is comfortable and can cater for both small and large groups.
I loved this cute booth and all the intricate detail. I would advise booking ahead if you are attending in a large group or just want a booth! However this isnt essential.
Alhamdulillah they have segregated wudu facilities
They also have two prayer rooms one for men the other for women so you can perform your Salah ?
The prayer rooms are a good size which is great as it gets busy. There are also chairs available for those who need them.
The bathrooms at Tipu Sultan are just as luxurious as the rest of the place. I had to take a picture of the sink because it was such a unique design.
There is also a car park which is large with security attendant which is great.
The Staff
The service at Tipu Sultan is excellent. All the staff are friendly and really make sure that from the moment you arrive till the moment you leave that you enjoy your stay to its maximum potential
The Food
The menu at Tipu Sultan has lots to chose from so it was difficult. We opted for Lamb Chops (£6.95) and Seekh Kebabs (£3.95) for starters. They were yummy and garnished with 2 different sauces which I personally liked.
We also tried the Masala Fries (£2.10) as a starter as we were so hungry. They were not what I expected but they still taste good!
I have to say the Butter Chicken (£9.95) at Tipu Sultan is one of my favourite dishes and I truly loved it. It was eaten with Garlic Naan (£2.95) and Tandoori Naan (£1.85) which were both yummy, fluffy, fresh and large as a naan should be. I would definitely order Butter Chicken again as it was creamy and made just how I like it!
We also ordered the Lamb Biryani (£9.95) served with curry sauce which was better than most places. Often enough I have been to places where Biryani just tastes likes curry layered with rice but at Tipu Sultan the Biryani was well made and the Lamb was tender. We also ordered Raitha (£1.60) which complimented the Biryani really well.
The Drinks
To drink we had Mango lassi (£2.95) and Pepsi (£2.00). I really loved how the mango lassi was served with an actual mango slice as I have never seen this before and it looked so elegant. The mango lassi was yummy and made just as I like it and complemented the traditional food served there.
To finish the meal I decided on a Movenpick milkshake – Swiss Chocolate Milkshake (£4.45) which tasted even better than it looks. I’m a chocoholic so I do tend to get chocolate everything but it is rare to manage to find a really good chocolate milkshake but given that it was Movenpick I really enjoyed it!
The Verdict
Tipu Sultan has definitely managed to create a luxury experience. The place is beautiful and they have truly thought of everything. I love the fact you do not have to worry about praying regardless of your gender and the wudu facilities also make life so much easier! The food is so good and we truly enjoyed all of the food. I would recommend the Butter Chicken in particular. Let me know if you try anything that you enjoy, for my next visit!

Review of Tipu Sultan is vey misleading!!! Hmc cert on the door etc it is not hmc and u wrote that at the end very confusing for people
Thank you for your feedback. I think you may have misunderstood, Tipu Sultan Leicester is fully HMC certified (double checked & its still on HMC Site today) which is the branch we visited & is clearly reference through the post. However, we did mention at the end of the post that they also have a Birmingham Branch which we haven’t visited yet hence are unsure as to where they source from.
